Seven Deadly Sins

1- What is Sin? - The Bible describes sin as the breaking, or transgression, of God's law (1 John 3:4 ). It is also defined as disobedience or rebellion against God (Deuteronomy 9:7 ), as well as independence from God. The original translation means "to miss the mark" of God's holy standard of righteousness.

A- Separates us from GOD - Isaiah 59 : 1-2. "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."

The Seven Deadly Sins never occur as a list in the Bible, but occur many times individually.

1- They originated from the Catholic Church - Pope Gregory the Great (d. 604) described Seven Deadly Sins in his Moralia in Job.

2- What are the Seven Deadly Sins

A- Superbia (Pride)

B- Invidia (Envy)

C- Ira (Anger)

D- Avarice (Greed)

E- Accidia (Sloth)

F- Gula (Gluttony)

G- Luxuria (Lust)

3- Why did the Catholic Church call them Deadly Sins - The church made a division between sins which were venial and could be forgiven without the need for the sacrament of Confession and those which were capital and merited damnation. Capital or Deadly Sins were so called because they could have a fatal effect on an individual’s spiritual health. British wall paintings stressed the connection between committing the Deadly Sins and ending up in Hell.

There are a list of 7 things the LORD hates and are and abomination to him.

Proverbs 6:16-19

16 - There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

17- Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,  And hands that shed innocent blood,

18- A heart that devises wicked plans,  Feet that run rapidly to evil,

19- A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

The answer to all of this?

1- Understand that the blood of the JESUS was shed on the cross for our sins.

2- Hey paid the ultimate price for us.

3- We need to come to him with a proper heart and ask for forgiveness and then repent from that sin (Turn away from).

4- Remember he is just waiting for you to ask and it shall be done.

So what is the unforgivable sin?

1- Matthew 12:31-32 Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Which comes down to completely denying him in every aspect of your life.
